About

Box of Memories presents a dialogue in the form of letters between two individuals, revisiting the memories of a past relationship. The short film blends photography and animation by overlaying frames with handwritten text and drawn silhouettes. Each frame is a sequence of about six medium-format photos, animated at roughly three frames per second. The resulting choppy aesthetic compels us to view these images more as photographs than cinematic shots. By emphasizing the uniqueness of each photo, the film seeks to highlight that our perception of the world is a matter of perspective. The characters have differing interpretations of the same memories, making us not only question the accuracy of the events but also suggesting that we instinctively weave stories (sometimes inadvertently fictional) through our past experiences, blurring the lines between factual reality and the fiction we embed within them—without, however, diminishing their emotional significance.
